Zack Fair... Vertigo was something best experienced when one was drinking, not when someone was trying to walk in a straight line. He put a hand to his head, his ears were still ringing, for some reason. He was feeling lightheaded and like his head weighed seventeen tons at the same time. His clothes seemed extremely heavy as well, and it just didn't make sense. The last thing he remembered doing was getting Cloud to safety, because of the mako addiction and that Shinra was trying to kill them... Zack Fair rubbed the back of his head again. He wasn't where he remembered being.
Follow your dreams...
He had said that to cloud, he could picture that now. Then he remembered....flying.
Zack came to an abrupt halt. He...he died. He could remember the pain now. The feeling of being ripped open by bullets, the warm blood on his cold skin. The general feeling of weakness washed through him again and for almost an entire second, it was like his body was back in his final step. He staggered sideways, racked with pain. His rump broke his fall and he exhaled loudly on the side of the road. Ok, ok. So....he died...
Then why in all of Gaia was he here?! This place looked like somewhere he might have been too once on a mission, only more rundown. Did....Did Sephiroth win? Zack looked around with panicked eyes as if the black winged man would just fall out of the sky. Ok. ok. He needed to associate himself to his location and possibly figure the hell out what day it was. And where was Cloud?
Zack looked around with a new frown on his face. The younger man wasn't in sight--he'd have been easy to spot with that hair of his-- and Zack couldn't catch hide nor hair of any weapon. Namely the Buster Sword. He wanted to know where it was, and if it was safe or not. He didn't regret giving it to Cloud--he was dying at the time--but now he wanted to know if his mentor's sword was good or not. Angeal's worst fear had been that thing rusting or going dull. Zack hoped Cloud had kept it in a safe place.
He felt a bit better, now that he had had time to really think. He pulled himself to his feet and dusted off before he resumed walking. The houses and buildings looked moderately new, but that didn't mean they were in great condition. He was close to the town square when he spotted an in. Immediately he thought of that bar in Nibelhiem and he started walking straight towards it. That Tifa girl might be in there...she didn't seem to like Zack very much, but food was food. And he wanted some food.
He took two steps inside, his eyes darted around; it was cozy inside, the fire was going in the place and electric lamps lit the room. He strolled over to the bar and sat down. His elbows rested in front of him and when the bartender cast him a wary glance, Zack gave his best smile. "I'd like something to eat and drink please. I don't even care what." The weight in his pocket told him he had some gil to spare, though the thought of him having money after coming back from the dead was just odd. He reached a slow hand into his pocket, to test it, and he did, infact have enough gil to pay for his meal. The guy seemed to trust him a bit more after he heard the sound of the coins clinking together. Zack relaxed on the stool with his elbows in the table, his mako blue eyes took in all the bottles and cases behind the bar and he waited as patiently as he could. His stomach, however, was acting like a monster.

HAPPINESS HIT HER LIKE A TRAIN ON TRACKS COMING TOWARDS HER STILL NO TURNING BACK - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SHE HID AROUND CORNERS AND HID UNDER BEDS SHE KILLED IT WITH KISSES AND SHE FLED No; he wasn't some strange person that wore magician clothing and danced with a wand in his hand. A strange feeling of deja vu swept towards his brain, feeling a rush of blood going straight to his head. Why now!? Why did he have to have this feeling of deja vu. He doesn't even remember a place like this back where he came from at all! He slowly paced himself as he lifted up his head, closing his eyes for a moment while he waited for the pounding to end. A satisfied expression stretched across his face as he resumed his walk, seeing people murmuring the name "Dali". Dali. Sounds like Dahlia, if he knew what that meant. It also sounded like something bad was going to happen, or if he was going to meet someone that was entirely different from his personality. He believed it was the latter. Brushing his motorcycle gloved hand over his right side, he heard signs of jingling. When did money get into his pocket? It appeared to be Gil, according to someone that he asked. Noctis made up a lie that he was from a different land that didn't use Gil, and much to the person's unfortunate demise, they believed him, and laughed it off like as if nothing happened. Strange. He thought about exploring this place for a while. Looking back at the laughing man with a blank expression, he entered what appeared to be an inn. He knew what an inn was -- a place where people can drink, eat, and rent a room to sleep in for a night or two. Inside was way beyond his imagination.
He felt a sense of warmth as soon as his boots walked into the place, his eyes automatically going towards the fire that was blazing the area with coziness. He saw several other people inside, but he didn't want to ask them anything. They might be serial killers that secretly kill anyone that asks them a question. If they attacked him, he could always use his telekinesis, yet that would cause a huge disruption and people would be extremely cautious of him like they were already. His right hand shot towards the Gil in his pocket -- he felt a lot of the money jingle with the movement that his hand caused. Right there, another wave of nostalgia broke through his thoughts, automatically telling him that he should get something to eat or drink. He'll get something to eat and drink. Just in case the food or the drink tasted bad. He wasn't going to say that out loud, though. It would be rude. He'll just place a fake facade that tells someone that he believes it's good. Just something to push away the feeling of nostalgia away. He found a place at the inn's bar and sat down, little did he know that he was sitting one seat to the left from a man with black spiky hair. With a straight forward reply, he caught the attention of the bartender. "Something that will push away the feeling of nostalgia." He replied, giving the bartender some of the Gil in his hands, and turned around, taking a good look with his aqua blue eyes, and if the blacked haired man would say something to him, then he'll stare at him.

He was tapping his foot to an unheard beat while he waited for his meal and drink. Maybe it was something with alcohol in it, because damn if he didn't want to think straight at the moment. He smacked a palm down on the counter because he was bored and he looked around with his vibrant mako-enhanced eyes. Everyone else in the bar was minding their own business, so Zack felt a bit bad for getting a good look at everyone. He shrugged off the matter.
He was in a strange place that had yet to be identified, so he felt he had the right to peer at everyone and thing around. The design of the room was pretty bland and cheap, except for the stone fireplace. That drew his attention at the moment. The fire in it churned and crackled as it ate up the wood slowly. This, for some reason, made him a little sad. He was missing something. The atmosphere of the room seemed to increase and he slumped back against the counter. He wanted beer or something, and he wanted it now.
He was about to voice this, when the bartender set a plate of delicious looking meat and, Goddess be praised, a tankard. Zack took a gulp of the fermented liquid and exhaled. This shit was strong. He hadn't had something so potent since he had vacationed at Costa De Sol, which was forever ago. At that moment, he thought of Cissnei and Tseng and those other two. How were they? Were they still alive? He halfway hoped so. He held some affection towards that small girl, and the quiet leader. Over time he had even considered them friends. Zack rubbed the back of his head as he took another drink. No thinking.
He ate his food carefully, making sure each bite got into his mouth, if he was going to pay for it, then he sure as hell was going to eat all of it. He looked beside him as another sat down. The guy looked to be around his same age, but something in the guy's expression told him that was only because he had been through a lot. Zack laughed a little to himself when the boy said he wanted something to push away his nostalgia. The bartender had about the same reaction as Zack did, but went to make him a drink none the less.
Zack lifted up his drink and tipped it towards the boy. "Let's all forget tonight!" He invited the entire bar, as well as the boy. A few light spirited patrons let out a few happy, 'hear hears', Zack took another deep drink, the burn of the alcohol made his mouth water and his face contort for a moment. It was, indeed, strong.

HAPPINESS HIT HER LIKE A TRAIN ON TRACKS COMING TOWARDS HER STILL NO TURNING BACK - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SHE HID AROUND CORNERS AND HID UNDER BEDS SHE KILLED IT WITH KISSES AND SHE FLED He received his food and drink as soon as he requested it, looking down at the meat and dish that was completely foreign to him. The drink in front of him was also like that, what kind of beverage was it? How strong was it? Those questions floated through his head like some person on crack, his fingers drumming on the wooden counter as he picked up the mug, taking a sip of it calmly while his blue aqua eyes took a good look around. Everyone seemed to be in high spirits -- especially the people that were drunk. Yes, he wasn't underneath the limit; there was no such thing as a limit where ever he travels, but parents won't allow their children to drink until they're at least seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, or even older. The other looked to be around the same age as him, probably six years or so, but did Noctis care about things like that at all? Oh no; he much prefers to cut down to the chase and get straight to the point. All of a sudden, the older male tipped his drink towards him, stating something as other people seemed to reply to the man's happy sentence. He also did the same, but not as rushy and hyper as some of the other people did. He did it like someone would do -- like an enemy becoming a good person and they helped you, tipping their hat towards you as they walk away. He did it just like that, and his expression shot towards someone as they approached him, asking the strangest question in the world. "How old are you?" He replied, looking at Noctis in a sort of cautious and wary way. "... Nineteen."
With that reply, it was almost as if hell broke loose to the other person in front of him -- not the older male with the black hair. "Nineteen!?!? You look 27!" Noctis stared back at the stranger with aqua blue eyes, slightly familiar to the black haired man's, yet they were different in value and looks. "... Looks are deceiving." He replied, taking another sip of his drink as he took another look around, the stranger going back to his table and broke into a huge conversation with the people at the same table involving why people have ages.

Zack enjoyed the rest of his drink in silence. His stomach reminded him that he was starving so during the approach of the man next to him, his mouth was full. However, after the other patron had sat down, Zack looked over at him with a scrutinizing gaze. Nineteen, huh? The kid was right when he said looks were deceiving. Zack felt a small swell of proud, however, because he had earlier pegged the kid as being younger than he looked. Finding out the he was correct was rewarding.
He ordered another drink with a wave of his hand, "You probably shouldn't wander around on your own, kid." Zack leaned over on his elbow to tell him, he spoke a bit quieter so if anyone was listening they couldn't be heard. "You never know who's out there, but you hardly seem like you don't know how to handle yourself. But eh, you never know what's out there." Zack could tell by how the guy sat at the bar that he could handle himself if he needed to, but Zack was full of paternal instinct and no matter who it was, Zack wanted a part in helping them or protecting them. It was just his nature.
He took the last bite of his food, and enjoyed the feeling of a full stomach. The man took his plate and set down another drink at the same time. He took a long pull before he looked back at the kid, he smiled a bit to show his good heart. "I'm Zack Fair, retired First Class SOLDIER." It didn't occur to him while he spoke that he should keep his mouth shut about who he used to be. He was killed because of that, after all. But what could he do after he had already said it? Meh, let the kid do what he will with that information; Zack was only being friendly.

The one thing he hated was to be teased. He was not a kid at all. Some people believed that he was immortal, seeing that he could look the part. He didn't really care about immortality that much. He'd rather much live out his life than to see the people that he cared about die right before his eyes. That was one of the downsides if you were an immortal. You can basically call Sephiroth an immortal; he could be a perfect example, only if he didn't die so god damn much!
"You probably shouldn't wander around on your own, kid."
He quickly turned around to look at the man that he was sitting one seat away, his eyes blinking in confusement as he looked at him intently. He did not intend to show emotion at all. This person seemed so upbeat. It reminded him of Stella, the person that he had a crush on. You can't imagine the two of them being friends, but you can definitely imagine them becoming good allies. That was good, or wasn't it not?
"You never know who's out there, but you hardly seem like you don't know how to handle yourself. But eh, you never know what's out there."
He silently awaited the moment when the older man would introduce himself.
"I'm Zack Fair, retired First Class SOLDIER."
"Soldier?..." He questioned, obviously not knowing what it was. He voice was from a foreign land, a place where no one has heard of. It was all to modern; magic still existing, people living in peace without knowing the city-state that they were living in was in turmoil. "Noctis Lucis Caelum. I'm a..." He can't tell the man that he was a prince. He wouldn't believe it. "...Drifter."

Zack watched the boy for a while, but it didn't seem he was that warmed up to speak to him, after giving his two cents. Either this kid had his guard up extremely high, and didn't even want to tell him to fuck off, or he was too shy to tell the guy to leave him alone. Or he could not speak his language--which he knew wasn't true because he had heard him talk already. Maybe he didn't speak unless he was asked a direct question? Zack shrugged it off a bit, it wasn't really his business and if the kid really wanted to be left alone, then he would oblige by it. It was a shame though, because Zack was such a people-person. He really didn't want to just drink in silence.
Zack was nearly halfway done with his second drink when the boy's posh voice reached him. He looked over at him with a tilt of his head. The kid said soldier questioningly, which told Zack the boy had no idea what he was talking about; which was terribly good news. Zack didn't have to keep his guard up all damn night, which was brilliant. He relaxed against the bar, his head cupped in his hand. The kid introduced himself.
What sort of person introduces their entire name? Zack had included his last name, but only because it was reflex. When the guy sad it, he made it sound like he was introducing himself to a group of people instead of just Zack. Zack nodded his head a bit, "Nice ta meet ya, then." Zack smiled welcomingly and took the last drink from his. He set it on the bar and waved for another one. Zack believed this guy was as much of a drifter as he was himself. This guy was either running from someone or something, or looking for someone or something. Zack's crazy good instincts told him that this guy was important where he came from. The only matter he didn't know was if he was running from it, or trying to find it. The later made more sense to Zack, because of the crazy goings on around them. He took a drink from the fresh one as it was placed down and grinned over at the drifter. "i'm trying to find my way too, but not tonight!" He laughed a bit at himself, the alcohol had started to seep into his bloodstream then. He could feel it burning in his stomach.
(crappy post is crappy, I'm sorry)
