Vanille can summon her eidolon, Hecatoncheir to aid her in battle.Her eidolon is earth based, and can turn into war machine with gun turrets. When this is active it is called Gestalt Mode. It's super move is called Gaian Salvo.
She is a magic caster that uses magic from a distance, her mods include Ravager, Saboteur and Medic. She also possesses a ATB skill called Death, this deals non- elemental damage to a enemy and if lucky enough could KO a enemy.

Personality: Vanille is seen as being a upbeat kind of girl, very happy and playful. She tends to hold that look of childlike-innocence inside her, her attitude is usually bubbly and cheerful. But Vanille also has quite a stubborn side as well, only at certain times. Such as if someone doesn't listen to her, or if she is told to go somewhere that she doesn't want to. Vanille cares deeply for her friend Fang, and acts sweet and kind although she hides the guilt inside herself that only she regained her memories.
She is also considered caring and considerate, when she acts happy and cheerful it's usually to cover up the fact she is indeed afraid. Not wanting to show other's that side of her, inside her heart she feels guilty and also grief for the trouble she has caused people from her lying and actions. Knowing she can't undo the past, and usually will get emotional crying and running off such as was the case when Sazh found out her part with his son.
History:Vanille was born on Gran Pulse, a resident of the village of Oerba where her and Fang lived once upon a time. Both Vanille and Fang lost their families in the War of Transgression, between Pulse and Cocoon. After that happened both she and Fang were put in Oerba's orphanage, they became close friends quite quickly. Both shared a bond, a sisterly bond but soon Fang decided to go off to become a l'Cie to protect her and Gran Pulse. Worried about her friend, Vanille naturally tagged along and became a l'Cie as well not wanting to be left alone.
Though the powers her and Fang were granted by the Pulse fal'Cie Anima, and the focus they were given scared Vanille. How could she even think to destroy Cocoon, she had to watch as Fang transformed into the beast Ragnarok leaving a scar on Cocoon's shell and not being able to destroy it. It then the goddess taking pity on the people of Cocoon, incases both Vanille and Fang into the crystal state.
It's then five hundred years later they both awake, Vanille realizes that Fang has lost her memories of their focus. Not wanting her friend to risk her life once more, Vanille lies to Fang telling her that she too has forgotten their focus. The brand which Vanille recieved is still quite active, and progressing at a steady rate she hears Fang tell her that she will remember their focus and prevent her from becoming a Cie'th. As they start to explore, they soon come upon Serah seeing she has been branded a l'Cie. Taking her outside, they hide themselves and watch as Serah runs off crying.
Vanille blames herself for Serah's misfortune, when she and Fang become seperated the pink haired girl strikes up a friendship with Serah. Wanting to apologize, the words don't come. Upon hearing Sanctum announce their plans for the Purge, Vanille boards a purge train out of her own free will. Thinking if she returns home, she can prevent anymore suffering. This is where she meets Hope, and they are both saved by NORA. They form a small friendship, after Hope's mother dies they go in search of Snow. Knowing the boy will never forgive Snow for what he did, she tries to think of another solution.
It's then they meet up with Lightning and Sazh, after rescuing Serah and attacking Anima they all fall. Deciding to go seperate ways in different groups, Vanille goes with Sazh and get's to know him a little better and also about his son. Feeling the wave of guilt washing over her, she says nothing about his son becoming a l'Cie.
