"Why I'm the leading man, of course. Who else?"
♥It's Now Or Never♥
Name: Ffamran "Balthier" Mied Bunansa
Age: 22
Canon or OC: Canon
Weapons/Abilities: Fomalhaut, only the best gun for the leading man
♥I Ain't Gonna Live Forever♥
Personality: Balthier is a surprisingly mild man. He doesn't often get angry, or overly happy, or too much of any particular emotion. This isn't to say that Balthier doesn't feel, he does in fact feel, it's just that he doesn't often allow such things to reach the surface. Smirks, slight laughs, or the occasional light curse tend to be the most that Balthier is willing to show others. This ever-confident man is happy with who he is and doesn't ever fail to let others know it.
With Fran, however, Balthier shows a different collection of personality traits. Only clearly trusting of Fran, Balthier seems to also have a slight affection for her, but he can't seem to allow himself to show it. Balthier keeps his relationship with Fran, for the most part, completely professional. Though he will try not to admit as much, the sky pirate heavily depends on his viera friend and would be despondent to lose her.
History: Born to Cidolfus Demen Bunansa, Balthier had a relatively un-noteworthy childhood. It wasn't until after Balthier turned 16 that his life began to really mold him into the man he'd be in the future. At the young age of 16 Balthier was named to be an Archadian Judge, but even before he had been named judge, Balthier was noticing changes in his father and the Archadian empire. Watching the deterieration of his country and his father's sanity eventual led Balthier to the ultimate conclusion that he must escape, and through that desire he stole a ship and went into hiding.
The stolen ship soon became Balthier's project and after making heavy modifications, so many that it looked like a completely new ship, Balthier named it the Strahl. It was also during this time that Balthier himself gained his name, seeking to banish his ties to his father and his country. Six years pass, and though it's never fully explained, Balthier gains the companionship of his viera friend Fran.
The next piece in Balthiers known history is when he runs into Vaan in the royal palace of Rabanastre, seeing the young man stealing from the treasure vault. Showing sudden interest in a mysterious crystal that Vaan steals, Balthier chases after the young man in attempts to take the item for himself, but in a twist of fate Fran, Balthier, and Vaan all crash into the Garamsythe Waterway. After a short 'spat' the group decides to work together to return to return to the surface.
During their waterway escapades, the group runs into a young woman who proclaims herself to be Amalia. She appears to be in trouble, so the group comes to her aide, but it doesn't amount to much when everyone is captured and sent to the Nalbina Dungeons shortly after. Much to Balthier's despair, Ba'Gamnan arrives in the dungeon with intents to acquire the bounty on his head. After a short fight, Fran helps lead the group out of the dungeon, but on their way out they stumble upon a most hated man. Basch fon Ronsenburg was being held in a remote section of the location and after a little begging, he is reluctantly accepted into the group and they all escape through the Barheim Passage.
Finally arriving back in Dalmasca, there is no time for relaxation after it is learned that Ba'Gamnan kidnapped Penelo thinking that she was close to Balthier instead of Vaan. The young man begs for Balthier's help in getting her back and Balthier is persuaded by the promise of the Dusk Shard. In no time, Balthier is flying Vaan off to Bhujerba to rescue his friend, but arriving there only seems to bring more trouble. The group heads towards the Lhusu Mines only to see the Magicite there and learn that it was to be used in the Draklor Laboratory. Though that wasn't the only peculiar thing that happened there. The group came into contact with a young man who introduced himself as Lamont, though it is later learned that he is Larsa Solidor, Archadian royalty. Just as things begin to get heated, Ba'Gamnan arrives and chases everyone out of the mines.
After their escape, the group learns that Penelo had been taken to Marquis Ondore's estate by Larsa, but by the time they arrive they are quickly turned over to the empire. Being thrown onto the empire's pride and joy, the Leviathan, the group finds the Lady Ashe and the Dusk Shard that Vaan had been holding on his person was taken from him. After a fight with a judge, the group barely escapes back to Bhujerba. Ashe proclaims that she doesn't wish to be forced to stay with the Marquis and after bribing Balthier with the riches of King Raithwall's Tomb, Balthier reluctantly agrees to ferry here there in his ship.
Fighting their way through the tomb, the group finds another piece of mysterious Nethicite known as the Dawn Shard. The group is then betrayed by Vosseler, Ashe's once loyal guard, and they are yet again left in the empire's hands and the Dawn Shard is taken from them as well. Out of twisted desire to understand the Dawn Shard's power Judge Ghis begins to runs tests on the stone only to unleash it's mighty power, destroying the entire fleet of Archadian ships while the group barely escapes.
Thanks to the demonstration of the Nethicite's power, Ashe is determined to use the stones to help her save Dalmasca, but she wasn't sure how to use them. Saying she wanted Balthier to assist her to Jahara it becomes clear that the sky pirate has his concerns, but after goading Ashe into turning over her ring he happily obliges. With the exchange, Balthier promises that when he finds a better treasure he will return the ring to the lady.
Having to walk to Jahara due to the Strahl taking damage, everyone ventures through the plains together. After arriving there the group heads on through the Golmore Jungle to Mt. Bur-Omisace where they planned on visiting the Stilshrine of Miriam in attempts to gain Ashe power and understanding. All the group receives at the shine however is the Sword of Kings, the only sword with the power to destroy Nethicite. Vowing to take down the empire's strength with her new found sword, the group then leads Ashe to the Draklor Laboratory.
Coming face-to-face with his father for the first time in years, Balthier learns that his father wasn't truly the insane figure he remembered him as, but rather the pawn of the Occurian Venat all along. Desiring confrontation, Balthier screams to his father that his actions are corrupt and ill founded, but Cid disagrees and then flees to the Pharos at Ridorana where an ancient and all powerful Nethicite resides. After finally catching up with his father, Balthier is forced into combat with him. The group is forced to bring Cid to his death, and Balthier wishes that at least in his last breaths his father would see the error in his ways, but no such event happens and Balthier becomes a bastard child without a single fond thought of his dead father.
Meanwhile, the war fought by the empire was about to be played out on Dalmasca ground, much to Ashe's despair. Deciding they must do something, the group finds their way onto the empire's head battleship, the Bahamut, so that they may speak with Vayne. After a very final confrontation, it is noticed that the Bahamut is about to fall on Rabanastre, so Fran and Balthier stay behind in attempts of getting the colossal ship into safe ground. The two are trapped inside as the Bahamut crashes just out of harms way any everyone is under the impression that they died in the crash.
One year later however, the Strahl mysteriously disappears and a simple note is left in it's place. With the note there is Ashe's ring, proclaiming that the promise the Balthier made to return it was fulfilled.
Likes: Freedom, treasure, a challenge, and of course himself
Dislikes: Confinement, an easy game, and his father

RP Sample: Balthier wasn't sure if he'd ever be content. After taking back his pride and joy, the Strahl, and returning Ashe's ring, Balthier wasn't quite sure where he should go. With Fran's help he managed to get a great treasure and feel accomplish. For a time. But after getting all of your deepest dreams what could one really do? Balthier wasn't sure if he could answer that question. Stepping out of his ship and back onto solid ground, Balthier decided to wander Rabanastre for information. Perhaps he could find some other treasure to quest after.
Slightly hopeful in his search, Balthier could feel his blood run cold upon hearing a certain young woman talking. "Yes, it's the most amazing thing ever,' She started, "My brother was revived, and I hear that this is happening everywhere. There are so many others saying that the same thing is happening to them. Dead family member's coming back to life! It's the most amazing thing!" Hoping that he had at first misheard the young woman, by the time she was done speaking Balthier was positive he had not. Family members coming back to life.
Thinking of his father sent a pained shiver down his spine. Even as he was dying, Cid refused to realize how horribly wrong he was. If his father came back to life then... No. Balthier scowled and shook his head to himself. No matter what happened, that bastard Cid wouldn't get to Balthier. He had escaped his father once and he damn sure wasn't afraid of doing it again.
