Personality:
Lightning isn't what some say may a pleasant person at times. Her cold, harsh demeanour often puts people at a terrible unease when around her. Her stern words are off putting as she isn't the one to sugar coat anything. These are things she had picked over the years, due to her soldier status, where any emotion or mercy on victims was frowned upon. Her ability to stay emotionless for a sustained period of time has surprised even herself at times. During battle, she abandons all fear and quickly keeps with ideas to take her enemy down.
Her social skills are what some might say limited, as this female prefers to keep to herself. she finds it easy to distance herself from others, ignoring the surroundings around her. She will not let others in easily, she is far too independent for that. Asking for help is not what she would do on many of any occasion. In fact, she was nothing like this growing up as she decided she needed to be strong, even if it did mean she pushed others away. She is more of a lone wolf than a team player, as she can really hone in her skills better that way.
Her tolerance levels for certain types of people is very low indeed. Her temper can flair fairly quickly, if anyone dare to say anything she dislikes. It doesn't have to be much before you face her wrath, something she picked in in the forces. She is easily annoyed, so many others tend to stay out of her way when she appears to be in a foul mood.
Being as distant and cold as she is, Lightning finds it difficult relating to others. A reason why she keeps herself so bottled up, for the fear of being seen as weak. She doesn't share much with her freinds, even with her sister her secrets are pretty much kept under wraps. It's more a defense mechanism than anything else. Sucking up any feelings she may have, it's easier for her to cope, just letting anything slip by.
But that doesn't mean she is completely heartless, quite on the contrary. Despite her negative traits, Lightning can be caring and protective especially over her young sister whom she had to raise by herself as their parents died when they were both young. Being just a child herself, she had to grow up fast. And she wanted nothing more to see her sister her happy as she watched over and made sure was fine. Even when lightning's mind became preoccupied as she went to join the Guardian Corps, she only hoped the best for her sister. Even when she didn't have time for her. Now, she does feel the need to be protective of others who are themselves vulnerable, but it does take time before this side of her truly kicks in, usually when she thinks of her sister.
Being so independent she is very strong willed and has a tough exterior. It refuses to make on most days, as she rarely is the one to call quits on anything. Seeing things to the end is what she does, her determination at it's highest when something she is passionate about is in danger. Her ability to think calmly in difficult sitatuions gives her an advantage, as she quickly formalizes plans to take down any enemy easily, pinpointing there weakness. Her courage and bravery often sees her through.
Her leadership skills and cunning attitude are fairly decent. Despite being such a lone wolf, she proves to do well in leading others, although she may detest every second. Her adaptability in these situations are good, as she realizes it's the only way to get ahead. During that moment, she will try her best to think of a plan, using her brain and wits to bring on victory.
History:
Lightning's childhood was that of happiness. Back then, her name was not Lightning, but Éclair Farron, a name she quickly discarded after the age of fifteen. She was the first child to her parents, followed by three years later by her younger sister, Serah. Growing up, Éclair was actually a happy child. She loved her parents and her little family, her grades peaking quite high. She also doted on her sister, who was a happy go lucky girl, their relationship growing close within the few years that loomed being separated by only three years.
Everything was going well in their quaint household, until her parents became increasingly ill. It was so sudden, it was hard to believe that her beloved parents were slipping away, right before her eyes. Within a short while, the worst happened as they both passed away. Only aged fifteen, she had to pull herself together to be strong for her sister and that was when she became Lightning. Now determined not to sit around like a fool, wallowing in self pity, she decided to do something... After graduating high school, she enrolled herself in the Guardian Corps of her city's Security Regiment. Such a challenging job, she found it an easy to distract herself.
With her home under alot of stress by the Sanctum to keep Cocoon in order, being a soldier was hard work. She took on more hours, to only forget her troubles, barely having time to spend with her sister anymore. It's all she felt she was useful now, as fighting was a way of forgetting about her own insecurities. It wasn't long before she found out that her sister had been spending some time with a man named Snow Villiers, who operated 'Team NORA'. She soon got involved with them, curiosity striking her. It wasn't long before she took a dislike to Snow, who was a worthless unemployed man in her eyes. She could not believe who her sister was getting herself involved with. She was even more appalled when he refused to stay away from her, getting even closer to her, which made her hate him even more.
Not long before her twenty-first birthday, Lightning was at Bodhum's Fireworks festival when she learns of a Pulse related incident that had been kept under cover. She was told not to investigate it by the Lieutenant she worked under but she could not help but wonder what was going on. On her birthday, her sister had her she had been turned into a Pulse l'Cie, but Lightning found it hard to believe her as she was sure it was just a lie so that Serah could run away with Snow. Not long after, she discovered that her sister had been indeed telling the truth along but it was too late as her sister was captured.
In her fury and desperation to get her sister back, she decided to get aboard the purge train, as the sanctum had decided to purge innocent civilians ahead of the fear of the pulse l'Cie causing havoc on Cocoon. It was there she met Sazh, whom had decided to help her. Along the way through the pulse vestige, she fought her way past PSICOM till she found her sister unconscious on the ground. Her newly found acquaintance was shocked to discover that Serah was an l’Cie, but Lightning didn't care, she was still her sister and she would do anything to save her. Soon enough Snow had appeared along with two young companions Hope and Vanille.
Surrounded by everyone, Lightning's sister had told her to save Cocoon then crystallizes. This had infuriated Lightning who was saddened by the fact that her sister probably would never come back. She took her anger out on Snow, whom was remaining optimistic that she would be okay. Punching him to the ground, she sternly told him to face reality; there was no way Serah could come back.
Driven by her anger, she decides to attack the fal'Cie Amina along with the others, as a promise to Serah to protect Cocoon. But in the process, the six are turned into pulse l’Cie. They then ended up in Lake Bresha and where left questioning what their focus was. They carried on the path till they found a Crystallized Serah. Lighting and the others thought it was best to carry on but stubborn Snow did not want to leave her, convinced he could free her. He had said that he would protect her although lightning did not agree; punching him to the ground after saying that he did not protect her before.
They decided to leave, although Snow stayed behind. They boarded an airship that was left abandoned and fought through a few enemies along the way, crash landing in the Viles Peak area. After fighting a few enemies, Lightning had decided to go on ahead, as she was fearful they were being traced. Hope followed shortly after her, as they walked on ahead. She tells him of her plan to go to Eden and destroy its fal’Cie. Soon after their trek through the area, Lightning shouts at Hope, saying she does not have the time to look out for some kid. Her anger summons out the eidolon Odin who attacks Hope. She rushed to save him, confronting Odin. She quickly brings it under her own control, now able to summon him.
They soon venture through Gapra Whitewood, fighting a few feral creatures along the way. It was there that Lightning lent Hope the survival knife her sister had given her, as protection. After they manage to escape and see hope's home in the distance, Lightning suggested that they go visit there so Hope could see his father and explain everything.
Lighting along with Hope travel through Palumpolum, careful not to get caught by the soldiers. After a while they get surrounded by a whole hoard of soldiers and she told Hope to run as she would keep busy. Soon enough, Snow appeared along with a woman named Fang, as he proceeded to attack the enemies. She remains on her guard, as she protects Hope. After the area was cleared, she decided to leave hope in Snow's care, in order for him to survive as she runs off.
Fang quickly follows her into a back alley, giving her a wireless communications device, giving Snow the point to meet at. While journeying through the area, Lightning notices that Fang has an l’Cie brand. The mysterious woman explained who she was and where she came from, Gran Pulse. The truth came spilling out, as they were somehow involved in why her sister became an l’Cie. Slapping her across the face, Lightning still did not feel any better.
They continued on their way, also learning Fang's attitudes towards Cocoon. Lightning then went on to explain that Cocoon had spent many years fearful of the land that was Pulse. Her words lead on to the fact that if it were not for Serah, Lightning herself would be fighting the l’Cie as they would have been nothing but targets to her. But Fang was uncaring about Cocoon and Pulse, for all she cared about was to help find Vanille's focus before it was too late. Fang had told of a plan to get Vanille get back to Gran Pulse, striking lightning to wish she had a plan but without Serah, there was no future to her. Fang reassuringly told her that her plan was to fight to see her sister wake up from her crystal statsis.
They then see an explosion in the distance and instantly thought of Hope and Snow. They reunite with them and head on over to Hope's place. They soon met with hope's father as Hope had to tell him what had happened. But shortly afterwards, the home was ambushed by PSICOM soldiers. After fighting them off, they were forced to flee.
They boarded the Calvary’s airship when they were told that their other two companions were captured and were to be executed and sent out to save them. They boarded the place where they were held captive. They fought through the crowd of soldiers that discovered them quickly to catch up with Sazh and Vanille who had broken out of their holding cells. They soon come face to face with Galenth Dysley, whom they later discovered was infact, the fal'Cie Barthandelus. He went on to tell the six l'Cie that their focus is to become Ragnarok and destroy the fal'Cie Orphan.
They pursued to defeat him as he retreats away. They quickly escape but end in a dead end in the fifth ark under Eden. Snow had then decided that they should just forget their focus and save cocoon, just like what Serah had told them to do. This angered Fang as she would rather die than watch a friend turn into a cie'th. After that, the eidolon Bahamut was summoned, but she learned to control it, with a little help from Light and the others. They then take advantage of an abandoned Pulse airship and head to Gran Pulse. On the journey they get attacked but they find a way to get their via Fang's eidolon Bahamut.
They soon arrive in Gran Pulse and explore to find out more about their focus. All they could find to start with was wildlife and ruins. But Vanille tells them there was one more place to check, her and fang's home village Oerba. Hope didn't want to go along, as he felt he could not help them and felt slightly scared. He summoned his eidolon Alexander, which Lightning and Fang helped him to tame.
They travel through Archylte Steppe, on their way to Oerba to find more answers. Along the way, Hope gets in the way of a fal'Cie, but is saved by some dreadnoughts and stops the fal'Cie Amos. They board the dreadnought and head to Sulyya Springs. As the others took a quick rest, Lightning and Snow spent a short while talking about Serah and their wish to see her again. She reassures Snow that will see her again, as he helped her to believe that. A single tear flowed down her check as he restored that confidence by saying after they save cocoon, they will go see her, together.
Landing in Oerba, they were shocked to see Serah there, who addressed Lightning by her real name, Éclair. But it didn’t take them long to discover it was not her but Galenth Dysley posing as her. They leave Gran pulse shortly after and invade the race circuit on Eden. The city was getting overrun by monsters and they rush to intercept the Calvary.
After dealing with soldiers, Lightning takes a leap of the high platform and they end up in Orphan's Cradle. They confront Orphan and try to stop Fang from becoming Ragnarok but end up as cie'th. They soon willed themselves back into human form and with their newly regained confidence defeat Orphan. With their focus completed, they are turned into crystal as Cocoon falls from the sky. Fang and Vanille turn into Ragnarok and destroy Cocoon and thus saved the world. As the others landed to the ground, they wake from their crystal slumber, hearing the words of the now crystallized Vanille.
Not long after they woke, they saw Serah and Sash’s son Daji in the distance, also now awake from their crystallized state. As Serah and snow happily reunite as well as the father and son reuniting, Hope couldn't help but feel upset about Fang and Vanille being gone as Lightning comforts him. Serah rushes to Lightning, happy to see each other again after so long. Lighting tries to apologise to Serah for not believing her in the first place when Snow rudely interrupts with the prospect of a wedding to plan. In the end, even she knew that Snow would indeed make her younger sister happy and was accepting of their impending marriage.
Likes:Fighting, running, having time to herself, spending time with her sister.
Dislikes: Arrogance, obnoxious people, having to work with idiots, sharing her feelings, staying in the same place for too long.

RP Sample:
The sudden flash of light’s set before her caused her to blink rapidly, as the colour zoomed through the sky. Bodhum’s annual fireworks display was not one to miss, as it failed to disappoint on many occasions. Lightning could fondly remember this time each year as a child, spending time with her family. Those were the days, back when everything was alot less complicated. No work, no need to worry over what her sister was doing, she could just be herself. And that was alot, considering since she had changed dramatically over the years. In a quick space of time, Lightning had abandoned her childhood memories, grow up before her time.
To most it would to be difficult, but Lightning adapted quickly to acting as a ‘parent’. To say that her sister and she got along all of the time would have been lying, as they did have their spats, usually over stupid things. She had been harsh and strict, so that her sister would learn. But nether less, Serah was the one person who did know the real Lightning, the only one who she could trust. In the public’s eye, Lightning preferred to keep herself to herself, naturally. If anyone had a problem with that, she couldn’t care less. She wasn’t the one to be an open book, her emotions firmly shut deep inside.
Showing feeling was a sign of vulnerability and besides, you were more prone to failure if you didn’t focus on your goals. There were times when she did open up, but only to the people closest to her and mainly that was when she was younger. All she needed now was to be strong, of which she was. Standing in the crowd, she could not feel more anxious. For what reason, she wasn’t entirely sure, it was just this feeling she had, that something was going to change everything.
She smirked at that stupid thought, pushing it to the back of her mind. Her worries turned to her sister and her newly fond love interest. Just thinking about that made her what to punch that idiot. Her sister was so young and had her whole love in front of her, why throw it away for such a loser. In her eyes, Serah could do so much better, not that she would listen. She knew her sister better than anyone; she wouldn’t change her mind, not at all. She felt a bit bad for not spending any time with her sister as of late, as work had been getting in the way. If she hadn’t been working so much, she could have kept a more watchful eye on her sister. Lightning sighed lightly as her blue eyes tilted upwards, watching the last flash of colour shine in the sky. Hopefully things would pick up, as she already had a plan in mind to spend more time with her sister, without any disturbances. Taking a shirt vacation would be a good idea, a way to get Serah away from Villiers, even if for a short while.
